Overview

This beautiful high-altitude lake is surrounded by alpine meadows and forests of pine, juniper, and spruce, whilst in the background you can view the magnificent snow-capped peaks of the Himalayas. In winter, there is often snow on the ridges surrounding the Lake.

Within its confines lies the Rara National Park, considered one of the finest parks in the world. The National park consists of Himalayan Black Bear, Leopard, Black Panther, Musk Deer, Red Panda, Wild Boar, Rhesus and Languor Monkeys, and numerous species of birds.

Arrive at Kathmandu

Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, our airport representative will meet and welcome you. You will be greeted traditionally with flower garlands. The representative will then take you to your hotel where you will be served welcome drinks. In the afternoon, you can visit shops, restaurants, and bars.

City Tour of Kathmandu or Patan and Bhaktapur

On this day, you will visit famous world heritage monuments in Kathmandu including Kathmandu Durbar Square, Boudhanath, Swoyambhunath, and Pashupatinath. Alternatively, you can also choose Bhaktapur and Patan sightseeing. By late afternoon, you will drive back to your hotel.

Drive from Kathmandu to Surkhet

Early morning drive from Kathmandu to Surkhet which takes about 12-13 hours. You will drive mostly on highways with hills, mountains, and rivers in view to reach Surkhet. Stay overnight at a hotel.

Drive from Surkhet to Kalikot

After early morning breakfast, drive from Surkhet to Kalikot (Manma) which takes about 8-9 hours. The road is not well-paved but you are rewarded with astounding views of the landscape.

Drive to Rara Lake

The early morning drive to Rara Lake(2990m) takes about 7-8 hours. It is the biggest and one of the most beautiful lakes in Nepal. Stay overnight at a lodge.

After early morning breakfast, the drive back to Surkhet takes about 6-7 hrs. En route, you will see beautiful green hills rivers, remote villages, etc. In Surkhet, you can also spend 1 more day for rafting and fishing at the Karnali River. Stay overnight at a lodge.

Drive from Surkhet to Kathmandu
