Overview

Phaplu Everest Base Camp trek involves a lot of strenuous hiking through consistent uphill and down hill terrain while witnessing magnificent views of tallest mountains on earth leaving you awestruck! This will be an adventure that will be remembered for your whole lifetime.

The Phaplu Everest Base Camp trek starts with an exhilarating 35 minutes scenic flight to Phaplu; a small town in Solukhumbu district. You will trek gently all the way to Takshindo Gompa before descending to Manidingma (Nunthala). There is an old cheese factory at Takshindo. The trek then gently descends to the Dudh Koshi River passing through agricultural farming land and small Sherpa and Rai settlements. While trekking you will visit Buddhist Monastery and en rote pass through rhododendron and oak forest.

You can catch excellent views of mountains such as Numbu (6960m.), Cho-oyu (8201m.), Gyangchung Kang (7922m.) and Thamserku (6629m.). Pass by Surkey, a small Sherpa village to reach the bottom of Lukla. From Lukla you will follow the Dudhakoshi River upwards to the Sherpa capital of Namche Bazaar. It is not long before you glimpse your first view of Everest. Be careful with acclimatization as you will find yourself high up in the heart of the Khumbu region. You will also visit Tengboche monastery and reach the top of Kala Patthar, a rocky outcrop to the west of Everest. This vantage point gives fantastic views of the Ice Fall and South Col as well as the immense south-west face of Everest which was first climbed in 1975 by Chris Bonington's team. This is truly a classic trek you dont want to miss !
